On 03/29/2022 I got an opportunity to interview Olivia from the bookstagram book_geek15. The questions are all about her bookstagram and books and I really hope you enjoy.
What was your process of starting your bookstagram?
Olivia’s response: I started off in 2017 with only the barest idea of how to start, let alone run, a bookstagram page. I didn’t really put much thought into page-prep or themes. I started off taking photos for fun, and the quality reflected that. As I got more into the page however, I invested more time in figuring out what themes appealed to people and what they wanted to see me post.
Are there any authors that you would like to meet someday?
Her answer: I’d love to meet V.E Schwab again! She is one of my favorite authors and I only recently went to her Gallant tour signing back in the beginning of March 2022. She was so much fun to listen to and so sweet regarding book signings.
How is bookstagram like in your perspective?
Olivia’s response: Bookstagram has always been a community to me. Although I did take steps to grow my account in a more professional manner, it has always been primarily about making content that I enjoyed. If I wasn’t having fun taking photos and filming reels, I knew I had strayed too far from what I wanted my account to be.
What is your go to book recommendation?
Her answer: Ooo that’s a tough one! I’d have to say either The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E Schwab or A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness!
Who are some of your favorite bookstagrams to look at?
Olivia’s response: I can always find inspiration from the close friends I’ve made through this account. Shoutout to Frank at @saucy_ramblings and Emily at @ea_sanderson ! They’re pages bring me so much joy, and getting to chat with them often is usually the highlight of my day!
Do you have any tips for people who would like to start their own bookstagram?
Her answer: Yes! Always make sure to keep you’re own joy in mind. If you’re not having fun with your current setup, change it! Also remember that follower count is just a number. It’s something that I struggle with from time to time but at the end of the day, the page I’ve created is my happy place. If people enjoy it too, that’s fantastic, but I can’t please everyone and I always have to keep that in mind!
