There once was a Queen named Emiliana, Queen of the mermaids. She was a very passionate and stubborn Queen who always got what she wanted which would later affect her subjects. Her kingdom called Spíti Gorgónas (Mermaid Home) lived underwater in a flat sandy area next to a Coral Reef where she and her mermaids lived peacefully in virtuosity and harmony.
But then the Sirens came. They started attacking the Mermaids one day, freaking them all out and started wrecking their home. Destroying everything. Once they were finished and decided that they caused enough damage they left. The reason for this obscure outburst is unknown but many believe it was a sort of “jealousy” towards the mermaids but many don’t mention this part in any other aspect of history only in Mermaid Folklore.
When the Queen was out scanning the area to check if it’s safe one of her personal messengers told her of this ordeal... This made her enraged. She decided if the Sirens ruined her land they don’t even deserve their own land. So she had guards keep watch on the land sneakily enough so the Siren Queen wouldn’t notice.
Once they learned there leaving patterns they took over the Sirens lands. The Siren Queen tried to ask nicely but Emiliana responded with a “no.” She refused to give up this land for the land that has been forsaken from her own grip. She simply didn’t care if the Sirens didn’t have a home... It was just a game of Karma to her.
A couple weeks or so later Emiliana realized some of her subjects were distressed. She wondered what was going on so she asked her subjects some questions. One of them responded and said “The Siren’s keep causing dismay by crashing the ships; ships full of Pirates! Humans!” She immediately then understood. She went to visit Severina and asked her if she could, “Stop destroying the ships with people inside them, they are causing a lot of distress to my Mermaids.” She asked.
Severina didn’t even care that it was causing distress so she said “nope.” 3 days later the Mermaids saw more ships coming filled with mass people; except they were heading towards them. They decided to hide deep in the water to avoid this confrontation. Luckily they weren’t looking for them- they were looking for the Sirens. Once the Siren’s were imprisoned and the queen was dead the Mermaids were happy with glee.
All Severina and her sirens did was cause problems for them and with the rest of her subjects imprisoned and their Queen being dead there would be no more chaos. All the mermaids rejoiced and even sang a mermaid tune to celebrate their victory… Or at least close enough to one.
My Jolly Sailor Bold
By: Ashley Serena (Part of the Pirates of the Caribbean: Stranger Tides Soundtrack)
Upon one summer’s morning, I carefully did stray
Down by the Walls of Wapping, where I met a sailor gay
Conversing with a bouncing lass, who seemed to be in pain
Saying William, when you go, I fear you will never return again
My heart is pierced by Cupid
I disdain all glittering gold
There is nothing can console me
But my jolly sailor bold
His hair it hangs in ringlets, his eyes as black as coal
My happiness attend him wherever he may go
From Tower Hill to Blackwall, I’ll wander, weep and moan
All for my jolly sailor, until he sails home
My heart is pierced by Cupid
I disdain all glittering gold
There is nothing can console me
But my jolly sailor bold
My name it is Maria, a merchant’s daughter fair
And I have left my parents and three thousand pounds a year
Come all you pretty fair maids, whoever you may be
Who love a jolly sailor that ploughs the raging sea
While up aloft in storm, from me his absence mourn
And firmly pray, arrive the day, he’s never more to roam
My heart is pierced by Cupid
I disdain all glittering gold
There is nothing can console me
But my jolly sailor bold
My heart is pierced by Cupid
I disdain all glittering gold
There is nothing can console me
But my jolly sailor bold
