Overview:
The credit for this poem goes to the already-created poem Caged Bird by Maya Angelou. Angelou’s poem inspired me to write a similar version, but I wrote it around my emotions living in an eagle’s body.
A free eagle lifts the sky
On a current of bliss
Light feet that float
To a world we miss.
A caged eagle sits
In a corner of hope
With weighted chains
No way to cope.
Inside he sings
To feel at home
Inside he bleeds
Left and alone.
A free eagle is seen
With a happy charm
Until the curtains are opened
Where he seems so far.
A caged eagle is trapped
Lost in its mind
Waiting for the time
For it to be alright.
Till he looks to the sky
With oh a great light
Can’t wait to say goodbye
To this sad night.
